pool etiquette
· Do not stand in an
opponent's line of sight, when they are taking a shot. If you
are caught out by an opponent playing quickly and you are in
line of sight, then stay motionless until the shot has been taken.
· Try to read the game,
and make sure that wherever possible you have moved from a players
probable shot position before they get there. If you have not
had chance to move and the player asks you to move, do not simply
lean to the side; stand up and move away from the players position.
· Do not heckle players; e.g. Do not cheer
when a player fouls, Do not talk in a purposely loud voice to put
off players, do not make comments such as "this is a difficult
pot for him/her, bet they'll miss". Do not complain endlessly
about bad luck or an opponents good luck. etc…
· If a player looks
like winning the frame in their current visit, do not unscrew
your cue, put on your coat, stand in the doorway, etc…
· Do not leave your
chalk or anything else on the table after your shot, meaning
your opponent has to move it.
· Do not receive/make
phone calls on your mobile during a frame you are involved in.
· If a close decision
(eg a tight 'total snooker' call) is made by the referee do not
take it in turns to line up the shot to check, it is the referees
decision, although the players may ask the referee to check again.
· As referee, you are
the impartial judge for any decisions, ensure that the game has
your full concentration at all times |
